Suture Kit – 25-Pack Mixed Dissolvable & Non-Dissolvable Threads, Sizes 2-0 to 6-0
25 Sutures. Five Sizes. Both Absorbable and Non-Absorbable. One Practice Kit.
Learning suture technique requires repetition across different thread types and sizes — the way a 3-0 silk handles differently from a 4-0 nylon, the way an absorbable chromic catgut behaves differently from a monofilament polypropylene. This 25-pack mixed suture training kit includes both dissolvable and non-dissolvable threads across sizes 2-0 through 6-0, each pre-attached to a reverse cutting needle, individually sealed and sterile. Practice the full range of suture types used in real wound closure scenarios without needing a separate pack for each thread type.
What's in the 25-Pack — Thread Types and Sizes
Dissolvable (Absorbable):
- 🟤 Chromic Catgut (braided, brown) — natural absorbable material that breaks down over 10–21 days via enzymatic process. Used in real practice for deep tissue layers, subcutaneous closure, and anywhere permanent suture removal isn't practical
Non-Dissolvable (Non-Absorbable):
- ⚫ Nylon (monofilament, black) — smooth monofilament with low tissue reactivity. Standard for skin closure in real-world applications
- ⚫ Silk (braided, black) — softer braided thread with good handling characteristics. Common in oral, GI, and accessible closure sites
- 🔵 Polypropylene (monofilament, blue) — high tensile strength, minimal stretch. Used in cardiovascular and fine tissue work
Sizes range from 2-0 (thicker, for deeper or higher-tension closures) through 6-0 (fine, for delicate tissue and small wound margins) — practicing across the size spectrum builds the dexterity to work with both heavy and fine suture material.
Pre-Attached Reverse Cutting Needles — Sterile and Ready
Each suture comes with a pre-attached stainless steel reverse cutting needle — the needle type used for skin and tough tissue because the cutting edge is on the outside of the needle curve, reducing the chance of enlarging the wound track. Every pack is individually wrapped and sterilized with a prolonged expiration date. Open what you need, store the rest.
What to Practice On
- 🐷 Pigskin (closest analog to human dermis for suture training)
- 🧱 Silicone suture pads and anatomical models
- 🍊 Fruit peel (orange or lemon — cheap accessible beginner material)
- 🐾 Veterinary applications (animals, with appropriate training)
- 🦌 Taxidermy

Who Uses This Kit
- 🏥 Medical & nursing students — clinic rotation prep and suture technique development
- 🚑 EMTs & paramedics — wound closure skill building for field certification
- 🎒 Preppers & survivalists — emergency wound closure skill development for grid-down or wilderness scenarios
- 🌲 Wilderness first responders (WFR/WEMT) — extended care scenario training
- 🪖 Military & tactical medical trainees — TCCC skills practice
- 🐾 Veterinary students — small animal wound closure technique
Pro tip: Start practicing on orange peel before moving to silicone pads — the layered skin and pith of an orange gives realistic resistance and lets you practice tension management without expensive materials. Work through interrupted simple sutures before moving to mattress or running patterns. The size variety in this kit lets you progress from heavy 2-0 (easier to handle) to fine 5-0 and 6-0 as your needle control improves.
